As of January 24th, here are my favorite things:
1) Kellie Shanygne Williams hosting Clean House. No, she's no Neicie Nash, but she'll do for now. She's certainly better than Debi "I Have No Personality" Gutierrez and Lisa "I'm Way Too White to Host This Show" Arch. Plus, she was Laura Winslow on Family Matters, which is good enough for me. (I'm also considering watching The Dish just to bring Topanga Lawrence back into my life.)
2) Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher. One of the funniest books I've read in a long time. Every few pages I'd have something new to add to my quote book. My favorite? "If my life wasn’t funny, it would just be true, and that is unacceptable." Amen, Carrie.
3) Lost is back. Enough said.
4) Awake and Sing at the GAMM and The Front Page at 2nd Story. The first is a beautiful Clifford Odets play, and a terrific ensemble piece. The second is a fast-paced comedy set in the newspaper world. Both feature great acting, and because these plays aren't done nearly often enough, you should check them out while you can.
5) The As If Body Loop by Ken Weitzman. It's a really well-written play about how we affect each other's lives, and presents some of the best dialogue I've read in awhile.
6) Harold and Maude. But really, when is it not one of my favorite things?
